About us

A European initiative

In 2025, 30 microelectronics competence centers (Chips Competence Centers) across 28 European countries were selected under the European Chips Act, with the aim of taking Europe’s semiconductor expertise to the next level.

The ASTEERICS project

It is against the backdrop of intense strain on semiconductor value chains and the growing importance of technological sovereignty that ASTEERICS—the French competence center for microelectronics—was launched on July 1, 2025. ASTEERICS is funded by the European Union under the Chips JU and supported by the French State through the “Skills and Future Professions” call for expressions of interest (AMI) under the France 2030 program, managed by Caisse des Dépôts (Banque des Territoires).

The French competence center is an integral part of the European network of Chips Competence Centers—strategic components of the European Chips Act—and fosters close collaboration with other European centers. This collaboration aims to promote synergies, the sharing of expertise, and coordinated access to European semiconductor resources (such as pilot lines and the Design Platform) across national borders.

Addressing a strategic challenge for European industry

While microelectronics lies at the heart of the digital, energy, and industrial transitions, many companies still struggle to adopt integrated technologies due to a lack of skills, limited visibility regarding existing solutions, or restricted access to industrial resources. ASTEERICS aims to overcome these barriers by leveraging three key sovereign technologies known for their high energy efficiency: FD-SOI, GaN, and SiC.

ASTEERICS proposes:

Free awareness-raising and training sessions for SMEs, aimed at decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and engineers.

Free, tailored technical and economic support for SMEs to identify the technology best suited to their growth objectives, structure projects, and facilitate access to funding.

Privileged access to European expertise, tools, and infrastructure.

Consortium

Led by Minalogic—in partnership with CNFM, Captronic, and five other competitiveness clusters (Aktantis, Alpha-RLH, Images & Réseaux, Smart Power, and Systematic Paris-Region)—the French competence center ASTEERICS serves as the national gateway for providing information, training, and support to companies regarding their ASIC, ASSP, FPGA, MEMS, or PIC (Photonic Integrated Circuit) projects. ASTEERICS aims to accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient integrated circuit technologies among French startups, SMEs, and industrial players.

Minalogic is the digital transformation cluster for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

With offices in Grenoble, Lyon, Saint-Étienne, and Valence, Minalogic drives an ecosystem of 450 members—including 380 companies spanning the entire digital value chain, 17 research and training organizations comprising over 150 laboratories, local authorities, private investors, and service providers.

Minalogic accelerates high-quality connections between these stakeholders and boosts their innovation and business projects in France, Europe, and internationally.
