FAQ about the ASTEERICS program & the CCCs
What is a CCC and what does it do?
A CCC (Chips Competence Center) is a national hub established under the European Chips Act. A CCC is responsible for supporting companies—particularly SMEs and deep-tech firms—in adopting semiconductor technologies by facilitating access to training, technical expertise, funding, and European manufacturing infrastructure.
What is ASTEERICS?
ASTEERICS’ mission is to make microelectronics accessible to companies through five pillars:
- Training: skills development for decision-making and technical teams.
- Techno-economic support: feasibility studies and selection of the best technological architectures (ASIC, FPGA, etc.).
- Consulting: strategic guidance to ensure a successful transition to custom components.
- Networking: direct access to the European ecosystem (design houses, foundries, pilot lines, laboratories).
- Financing: support in structuring the funding for your R&D projects.

Is ASTEERICS connected to other European CCCs to cover my entire requirement?
Yes. ASTEERICS is fully integrated into the European network of Chips Competence Centres (CCCs) established under the European Chips Act. This network comprises 30 competence centres spread across 28 European countries.
ASTEERICS acts as your single point of entry (national gateway). If your project requires highly specific technologies or infrastructure not available in France—such as access to certain European pilot lines, the European Chips Design Platform (cloud-based), or specialized foundries—ASTEERICS directs you straight to the relevant European CCCs, ensuring seamless, uninterrupted support across the entire value chain.
Does the ASTEERICS consortium consist of technical, financial, and go-to-market experts to bring my product to production?
Yes, the consortium covers the entire lifecycle of your hardware project:
- Technical expertise: CNFM, CAP’TRONIC, and other consortium members provide top-tier technological support to validate feasibility (techno-economic analysis, ASIC/FPGA/MEMS/PIC architecture selection, and FD-SOI, GaN, or SiC optimization).
- Financial expertise & structuring: ASTEERICS teams guide you through the financial structuring of your project by identifying the best public funding schemes and assisting with the preparation of your grant applications.
- Go-to-market support & industrial network: Led by Minalogic and involving five strategic competitiveness clusters (AKTANTIS, ALPHA-RLH, Images & Réseaux, Smart Power, and Systematic Paris-Region), the consortium connects you directly to the industrial ecosystem—including design houses, foundries, packaging/backend experts, and commercial partners—to ensure a successful transition to production.
